      Gr 1-5-Once again, something weird is going on at Ella Mentry School. Miss Daisy's class is preparing for the holidays with a Secret Santa and a pageant led by Miss Holly, who is just way too jolly. A.J. gives Emily a dead fish and has to kiss his nemesis, Andrea, under the mistletoe. Jared Goldsmith does an apt job capturing the voices of A.J. and the rest of the gang.       Narrator A.J. offers more observations about his experiences at Ella Mentry School, focusing on the holiday pageant ([cf2]Miss Holly[cf1]), Presidents' Day presentations ([cf2]Mr. Macky[cf1]), and poetry month ([cf2]Ms. Coco[cf1]). Some young readers might enjoy the one-note goofy humor and formulaically over-the-top situations appropriately illustrated with cartoon drawings. Anyone past the "nah-nah-nah boo-boo" stage, however, will be bored.
