Gail Gibbons is known for her ability to bring the nonfiction world into focus for young students. Through pictures, captions, and text, this book provides a window into the world of growing things--including discussion of such topics as pollination, the seed-to-plant process, and a do-it-yourself seed project. Erin Mallon complements Gibbons's text with a clear, clipped, and purposeful narartion. As Mallon explains at the outset, she reads text first and then captions; in this way the listener has the guidelines for ÒreadingÓ along. Her volume is louder for the text and softer as she reads the supporting information. Long pauses are provided for poring over the pages. A.R. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine
